But that was very minor as struggles go, and once I got traction, the puzzle became regular Tuesday-easy. banana.?") ( 1D: Symbol over the "i" in the Tropicana logo ( LEAF)). Weirdly struggled right out of the gate with this one, as I tried to make FINS work for 1A: Swimmer's set ( LAPS), and couldn't remember what the hell was on the Tropicana logo (". " YOINK!" may be my favorite answer in the whole thing, though I think of it more as a sound effect *accompanying* the snatching of something than the snatch itself. I had trouble parsing PUT-UP JOBS, but I have no objection to it. STORYBOOK and " I OWE YOU" are lovely (they sound like plausible Taylor SWIFT song titles, actually). The basic quality of the grid seems fine, even slightly better than your average Tuesday fare. If you're going to pay homage to an artist you like, you gotta do better than just list some hits. Again, from my perspective, Taylor SWIFT's talent (considerable, IMHO) is beside the point. The lack of real puzzleworthiness to this theme makes the whole thing seem like a publicity stunt-there's no doubt that social media is already *humming* with the buzz of adoring fans (as well as the grumping of non-fans and "kids these days" oldsters). If there were-if the revealer ( SWIFT) really snapped, or offered us anything besides merely literal explanation-it would be very easy to overlook, say, the odd placement of the revealer, or the non-symmetrical ("bonus"?) themers (since " PER" and " SOWN" are not Taylor SWIFT songs (that I know of.), " RED" and " BABE" are kind of left hanging out to dry. The *topic* is fine, but there is nothing *puzzle-worthy* in the theme execution. I mean, it's harmless-you can sort of enjoy it as a very easy themeless puzzle, which I imagine is how a lot of people enjoyed it-but I don't get how this passes muster as a NYTXW crossword puzzle. There's no wordplay, no cleverness, no nothing but a list of songs. I mean, if the themers were just Beatles songs and the revealer were merely THE BEATLES, people would be booing, not at the Beatles (well, mostly not at the Beatles), but at the weakness of the puzzle from a conceptual standpoint. If you love Taylor SWIFT and are thrilled to see all her songs here, just imagine this theme being done with an artist you don't like. I am in no way averse to the idea of a Taylor SWIFT-themed puzzle, but this ain't it. Its capital is Khartoum and its most populated city is Omdurman (part of the metropolitan area of Khartoum). The Slider will attempt to slam into the player, only moving through the three dimensional axis (x,y,z). In its first phase, The Slider appears with one, large, blue eye on each of the four sides of its body. As well hitting it while it is already red from damage is wasteful as it does no damage but still damages whatever tool you are using. No matter what pickaxe you use, though, The Slider will take roughly 125 hits to kill. Zanite and Gravitite tools work the best. To activate it, you must hit it with a pickaxe, shovel, or axe. The Slider will first appear as a large, strange stone block in the middle of a large room. The boss can be found waiting in the center of the room, where the player must provoke the boss until he fights the player. Water can't be placed within the dungeon as well, given the boss is magma-based. The Dungeon is made of Hellfire stone that can be exposed to the outside of the sphere as well. Although the dungeon is very short, being the only room is the boss room itself, the dungeon is arguably the hardest of them all. The Gold Dungeon is the last dungeon in the legacy version of The Aether, generating within giant spheres in the sky covered in Golden Oaks. She isn't instantly aggressive, as the player can peacefully converse with her until they complete her quest that will allow for them to fight her. At the bottom of one staircase, the player will find the throne room where the Valkyrie Queen rests. Within the dungeon, the player must go through a maze of rooms with small loot chests, similar to the loot chests in the Bronze Dungeons, filled with neutral Valkyries. It's architectural style is similar to that of a Roman temple. The Silver Dungeon is the second dungeon in The Aether, generating in the sky on top of white clouds. Within that dungeon, there are various rooms filled with loot chests (some of which are mimics disguised as chests), and one room that holds The Slider. However, the top of the dungeon can be exposed as well, so that it can be possible to enter the dungeon through these gaps in the ceiling. It can be found on the sides of The Aether islands. The walls and floor of the dungeon cannot be broken until the dungeon is beaten, as with all other dungeons. The Bronze Dungeon is one of the three types of dungeons found in The Aether, and is considered the easiest one to conquer. The Slider is found within the Bronze Dungeon, the Valkyrie Queen is found within the Silver Dungeon, and The Sun God is found within the Gold Dungeon.
Los Angeles Union Station: Considered “the last of the great train stations,” Los Angeles Union Station was built in 1939. Read more about the forgotten historic rooms here.ģ. The train station is now larger than the Capitol and is the most visited location for locals and tourists. The neoclassical architecture with vaulted ceilings and gold leaf details shine in the main concourse, which was recently restored from great disrepair, having been almost shut down in the 1980s. Union Station: One of the oldest train stations, Union Station opened in 1907. Almost one million people pass through its doors annually, second only to Times Square as the most popular NYC attraction.Ģ. The most notable feature of this beautiful white marble building has to be the famous ceiling, which was recently restored to its former glory! The green ceiling of constellations was actually painted on backwards, which some say was done purposely to show God’s view of the stars. From the opal faced Tiffany Glass clock in the center of the main concourse to the Vanderbilt acorns to the Whispering Gallery where visitors can whisper and be heard on the opposite corners, this place makes time travel seem possible! Chyanne from San Diego, CaWhy are there men in the comments, giving their opinion about her glasses like it matters?.It's like the last thing I need to hear right now." You leave your house, you're driving down the road, you're going to do something different, and all of a sudden you hear, Oh, here's my story on the radio. Hopefully, as a listener, you get a feeling like when you just can't get away from your problems. And it might not be as depressing as my friend who's suicidal, but it's still really hard. You know, this isn't such a special situation that I'm going through, but it still means something to me. In a way I think I wrote that into the song because I was relating my story to the effect that everybody goes through this. When you're not going through some of those things, sometimes as a songwriter you think, "Oh, that's so straightforward and cliché," but you know what? That's how it feels. And then you realize why people wrote those songs. If you're going through difficult times, it's hilarious how you turn on the radio and even the most cliché things perfectly capture how you're feeling. It's funny, because it wasn't until later, after a couple of major breakups, that I realized when you're depressed and you're going through these breakups, the breakup was supposed to happen. Regarding the lyrics, "I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up, and this woman was singing my song," Lisa explains: "That was when you hear somebody telling your exact story. It puts me in a little bit of a tailspin, because you can't figure out what's actually real, are you only seeing things through your own eyes? Are you actually seeing things the way that they really are, or are you making things up? And at what point do you know whether you're seeing things the way that they really are?" Partially because somebody else is telling you that you're only hearing what you want to, and that puts you in a little bit of a tailspin. But yeah, it was a story about a breakup I was going through, and that situation where it's gotten into your head too much. A lot of times in my songs, I get into some phase where I describe some other situation, and there's a whole verse in there about somebody who is very, very depressed. And then I go off into some other areas: I remember somebody close to me was going through severe, severe depression. In a Songfacts interview with Lisa Loeb, she told the story behind "Stay." Said Loeb: "At the time, I was having arguments with my boyfriend, who was actually my co-producer as well - we made records together. Lm301h oneĭo you want to know how to use them? I can’t thank the Club enough for the opportunity it has given me.” I’m still hoping I can impact September and I’ll still be around, enjoying it as much as I can and being disappointed when I don’t get selected, turning up and supporting the guys that do get selected. I was desperate to get back and play with Charlie, but also play with my teammates and just play footy. I had a poor year and I felt like I didn’t enjoy it: anybody who’s been injured has been in that situation. My 2022 season, I was injured for the majority of the year. Are you glad you got that extra one, playing with Charlie again and having all those moments in the rooms that you did have? I’ll enjoy whatever that’ll be.”Ī post shared by Charlescurnow said last year that when you got a one-year contract extension, you thought it may have been the end and the Club had no responsibility to give you an extra year. I needed ‘Vossy’ and ‘Lloydy’ to tell me it was done. But, still - a dumb question, will you miss it? It seems like you’ve come to terms with it, and maybe you have for a while. Our fanbase is so passionate, it’s so cool to be part of a club like this that brings a community together. We had some finals series there in 20, and we had some really tough periods. To the fans and the supporter base, they’ve been unbelievable for me since I got here in the back end of 2010. It was a really special day, to say thank you to everyone that has helped. To have the opportunity to thank them, I wanted to put a little bit of thought into it. I’ve met amazing people, made amazing friendships that I’ll have for life with coaches, teammates and staff that I’ve worked with. “It was difficult, because I’ve had such a great time at the footy club. What was that like, letting them know this season will be your last? You said you’ve known for a while and it’s been a long process, but no matter how many times it runs through your head, you’ve still got to do it and get in front of the playing group - and, in your case, getting in front of the admin staff as well. Hard, but I’m glad I got to do it this way and say thank you to everyone.” Throughout the year they’ve been fantastic, giving me great clarity because I needed that - otherwise I would’ve tried to go on forever.
